Just because you've left the symphony doesn't mean high fidelity sound
has to end. TI has an expanding portfolio of digital amplifiers and highly
integrated pre- and post-processing ICs ideal for car audio head units, rear
seat entertainment and external amp applications.

4 Channel Digital Audio Amplifiers for Automotive
The TAS5414 is a four-channel single-ended input and the TAS5424 with
differential inputs are among the first devices to combine the high power
efficiency of Class D amps with breakthroughs in low electromagnetic
interference (EMI). The TAS54x4 amplifiers meet the high quality standards
of the automotive industry, including AEC-Q100 and TS16949..
The TPA2000D1 is a 2-W mono bridge-tied-load (BTL) class-D amplifier
designed to drive a speaker with at least 4- impedance. The amplifier uses
TI’s third generation modulation technique, which results in improved
efficiency and SNR. It also allows the device to be connected directly to
the speaker without the use of the LC output filter commonly associated with
class-D amplifiers (this will result in EMI which must be shielded at the
system level). These features make the device ideal for use in devices where
high-efficiency is needed to extend battery run time. The TPA2000D1-Q1 is
qualified for Automotive applications including the AEC-Q100.
Cost-Effective Digital Audio Processing
For cost-effective digital audio processing that provides volume, treble,
bass and sound effects, TI offers the TAS31xx family of processors. The
TAS31xx can mix up to eight input channels and digitally process three
channels, while performing sound effects processing such as Dolby® Pro
Logic® II, SRS® Circle Surround™ II, TruSound and other audio algorithms.
TI's TAS3108IA is a fully programmable high-performance audio processor that
uses an efficient, multi-instruction programming environment optimized for digital
audio-processing algorithms. Bringing higher fidelity to car audio while continuing
to provide providing cost-effective audio processing, the eight-channel DSP
features a dual-core architecture that splits the processing between a 48-bit
DSP and an eight-bit 8051-compatible microcontroller. The TAS3108IA is qualified
for automotive applications.
Enabling up to 7.1-channel processing, the devices can perform five simultaneous
instructions per clock cycle and operate at 135 MHz, providing a maximum of
675 MIPS. When combined with their 48-bit data path (enabling superior bass
management processing), and single-cycle 76-bit (48x28) multiply-accumulate,
the devices offer 135 MMACS -- an unparalleled amount of processing at their
price point.
These devices also come with a comprehensive set of tools optimized for audio
processing, enabling the efficient implementation of proprietary algorithms
and standard features such as equalization, tone and volume control.
