At Texas Instruments, we’ve been inventing the future for more than 75 years. Time and time again, TI has quite literally and repeatedly changed the word.
It all started 75 years ago when a small group of dedicated engineers and geophysicists asked the question: What if we could process sound waves to discover oil hidden deep beneath the earth’s crust? This technology was the cornerstone of the company that grew into Texas Instruments.
From revolutionizing oil exploration in the 1930s to creating the foundation for modern electronics in the 1950s — including the creation of the first commercial silicon transistor and the invention of the integrated circuit — all of TI’s advances have been based on signal processing.
Today, evidence of TI’s continuing work in processing and interpreting signals is all around us in communication and entertainment. They’re part of our daily life — from the single-chip mobile phone to cable modems, home theaters, wireless Internet, digital cameras and advanced automotive systems.
So, what about tomorrow? We’re already working on new signal processing innovations that will help create cars that drive themselves, allow the blind to see and much, much more.
