Streaming
Media and Digital Broadcast –
a Hit at CES
Streaming media and digital broadcast
was a hot topic at the recent Consumer
Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.
TI highlighted several announcements
with customers and partners, featuring
both Advanced Profile Windows Media
™ 9 Series (SMPTE VC-1) and MPEG-4 AVC H.264 for high-definition video
content delivery over digital TV. TI
and TANDBERG Television showcased a
live interoperability demo for high-definition
VC-1, the latest encoder for real-time,
end-to-end IP set top box applications.
ANT, a leading provider of user interface
software for digital TV and consumer
electronics, announced they have ported
their new Galio™ software to TI’s
DM642 digital media processor. This
porting enables IP set top box manufacturers
to easily add browser and control functions,
enhancing the viewing pleasure of digital
TVs. Finally, Sentivision and Modulus
Video demonstrated H.264 MP@ML interoperability,
highlighting the ability to decode with
all tools active at D1 resolution. See
website for more on TI’s streaming
media capabilities. |

EE
Times Names TI and ObjectVideo one of the
Best Development Teams
TI designers and ObjectVideo developers were
recently named one of the Best Development
Teams by Electronic Engineering (EE) Times.
The team jointly devised video content analysis
algorithms that would run on TI's digital
media processors. Read more now and see why
they received this honor.
Estimating Motion for Video Compression
Today, we can communicate via text, audio,
speech and video in daily situations. However,
the amount of information communicated becomes
huge quickly and must be handled through compression
to be effective. How do you determine which
search algorithm to use to implement motion
estimation for video compression? Download
this article to find out. |

the Hottest Applications Driving the Video
Market at the 2005 TI Developer Conference
North America
With 20 video tracks currently scheduled for
the 2005 TI Developer Conference, you will
be challenged with intermediate and advanced
topics in video systems. In addition, hands-on
workshops such as “Benchmarking and
Optimizing a Real-time Video Application Using
the TMS320DM642 DMDK” also will be available.
Presented by Ateme, this hands-on lab will
feature a multimedia-oriented development
platform and show how it is easy to start
a multimedia application development. Don’t
miss out on any of these valuable courses.

Multichannel
Surround Encoding for Audio Video Recording
This online course describes the use of multi-channel
surround sound to create content that can
be distributed over standard stereo infrastructure.
Take this training course and gain new ideas
for applying this to video cameras, allowing
consumers to create and share surround-encoded
content for playback on traditional consumer
electronics equipment. Register today.
Embedded
World 2005
Discover the Video
Security over IP Platform (VSIP) in the
Texas Instruments stand, Hall 12 426 at Embedded
World in Nurnberg February 22 -24. Based on
TI's TMS320DM642 DSP, the VSIP includes a
comprehensive framework with hardware and
software and all the tools and libraries necessary
to develop video-security applications, reducing
design complexity and time-to-market. |
