Ultra Wideband (UWB)

Ultra Wideband (UWB) is a wireless technology for transmitting data at high rates over a spectrum of frequency bands using very low power.

Design Considerations

Ultra Wideband (UWB) is a wireless technology for transmitting digital data at very high rates over a wide spectrum of frequency bands using very low power. UWB is ideally suited for wireless communications, particularly short-range and high-speed data transmissions for local area network applications. According to a June 2002 research report by In-Stat/MDR, wireless home networking will be the key to adoption of Ultra Wideband in the marketplace, with UWB dominating home networking by 2006.

Texas Instruments is an active participant in the collection of companies, government officials and individuals working to define and develop UWB technology.
