Design Considerations

Integrated GPS guidance, image processing for target recognition and real-time flight path guidance computations are enabled by high performance Digital Signal Processors (DSP). Floating-point DSPs with performance up to 1 GFLOPS (Billion of Floating-Point Operations per Second) and fixed-point DSPs with performance up to 1600 MIPS (Million of Instructions per Second) are available from Texas Instruments HiRel Defense and Aerospace.

Highly discriminating target detection/recognition (TD/R) systems require the highest performance semiconductor and leading-edge signal processing products available. TI's portfolio of high speed data converters and industry leading, high performance digital signal processors (DSPs) supports modern ElectroOptics designs.

High performance support products include a broad selection of Mixed Signal/Analog, ASICs, FIFOs and Advanced System Logic functions. TI MPD offers Enhanced Plastic (EP), MTO (ceramic/commercial processing), MIL-PRF-38535 Class Q (ceramic/military qualified) and MIL-PRF-38535 Class V (ceramic/space qualified) product processing flow options. With over 3500 Class Q, over 300 EP and over 200 Class V products to choose from, military system designers can select from the following product areas:

  • Digital Signal Processors
  • Data Converters
  • Power Management
  • Logic
  • ASICs
  • Mixed Signal and Analog
  • First-in, First-out Products
  • Bare Die and Known Good Die (KGD)
