Design ConsiderationsEmerging trends in network projectors/displays indicate the transition to a seamless use scenario where projectors and displays become part of an IP network that work with all PCs, phones and network appliances. These display screens and projectors are no longer isolated but download and display content from anywhere - the network, PCs, notebooks, netbooks and smart phones, supporting both wired and wireless connectivity. Core subsystem components: Processor - DM6446, DM365, OMAP3530 are particularly well suited for Network projectors. The DM6446 and DM365 have an ARM9 at 300MHz and have all the peripherals integrated on-chip for this application space. USB, EMAC, and an integrated Video Port Subsystem (VPSS) with OSD, scalers, and RGB888 peripherals enable a cost-effective solution. The OMAP3530 has a more powerful applications processor Cortex A8 running at 600MHz and requires an external EMAC and PHY. Both the DM6446 and OMAP3530 have a programmable Digital Signal Processor (DSP) that allows you to differentiate your product to suit your needs. TI processors are well suited for Network projector applications and include scalable solutions with common software architectures enabling entry level & advanced feature products. The choice of which processor to use depends on several factors:
Power Management Unit - A highly integrated power-management unit (PMU) that supports the power and peripheral requirements of the Application processors. The IC contains power management, an audio codec, a high-speed USB transceiver, a USB charger, LED drivers, an ADC, a real-time clock, and embedded power control.
