Description

This reference design is synchronous buck-boost converter that can deliver up to 3.8 A of continuous current at -5 V from a 5 V input. This topology uses a synchronous buck controller (TPS5103) referenced to the negative output rail. The synchronous MOSFETs allow this design to achieve a peak efficiency of 88%. In addition, the TPS5103 provides a soft-start function and over-current protection.
