Description

This reference design describes a high power, variable output converter that operates from a 20-40VDC input voltage. The output is adjustable from 4-15VDC at output currents up to 20A. Total power available from the supply is 200W maximum. The TPS40051 is a high efficiency, wide input range synchronous buck controller. It contains all control components necessary to implement a voltage mode PWM controller. Features include short circuit protection and voltage feed-forward control. The feed-forward control provides a constant, stable control loop over the complete input voltage range. With a 32VDC input and 12V at 10A output, the efficiency is better than 94%.
