Description
Texas Instruments H.264 baseline profile (BP) encoder software conforms fully with the H.264 standard from the International Telecommunication Union Telecommunications Standardization Sector (ITU-T). The H.264 BP encoder offers flexible rate control which allows it to be tuned to support multiple applications, including video conferencing, video surveillance, broadcasting and numerous other end equipments. It features programmable codec parameters that can be optimized for speed or subjective video quality depending on the needs of the end product. The H.264 is highly optimized to a hard standard that supports numerous complex tools and allows for development time savings in terms of years instead of months.

- Two user-configurable rate control schemes: DCES_TM5 and PLR
- Arbitrary resolutions up to SD (720×480), including standard image sizes such as SQCOF, QCIF, CIF, QVGA, VGA
- User-definable setting for motion estimation controls the balance between encoder speed and quality
- Quarter pel interpolation for motion estimation
- User-configurable GOP length
- Improves network performance by predicting missing data through the use of unrestricted motion search which references frames that may be partly outside the frame
- De-blocking (two modes: on and off)
- Selectable input formats between YUV planar and YUV 422 interleaved
- Validated on the DM6446 EVM
- eXpressDSP™ Algorithm Standard (xDAIS) compliant
- eXpressDSP™ Digital Media (xDM) compliant
- Unrestricted motion vector search – allows motion vectors outside the frame boundary
- TI flexible rate control algorithm
- Controls the balance between encoder speed and quality by using the user definable motion estimation settings
