Description

The TVP5154 evaluation module allows designers the ability to evaluate the video quality of TVP5154. A quad-channel video decoder, the TVP5154 also includes independent horizontal and vertical scalers. Focused towards the security/surveillance market, the TVP5154 can easily connect to TI’s TMS320DM642 DSP to allow for a complete digital video recording solution.

The EVM includes all of the hardware and software needed to evaluate the device. This includes scaler examples and a fully-functional DM642 processor to display the scaled images and output a single video stream to an included NTSC/PAL/SECAM encoder daughtercard. The encoder can then output either a CVBS, S-Video, or YPbPr video signal for display. The TVP5154EVM includes the TVP5154 NTSC/PAL Video Decoder Board Module, an Encoder Board Module, a universal 5 V power supply and a parallel port cable.

The EVM also includes a Windows™ 95/98/Me/NT/2000/XP compatible application called WinVCC (Windows Video Control Center). WinVCC communicates with the TVP5154EVM via I2C through a PC parallel port connection and provides the means for manipulating system register settings.
