Description

Z-Stack™ is TI's ZigBee compliant protocol stack for a growing portfolio of IEEE 802.15.4 products and platforms. Z-Stack™ is compliant with both the ZigBee® 2007 (ZigBee and ZigBee PRO) and ZigBee® 2006 specification, supporting both ZigBee and ZigBee PRO feature sets on the MSP430+CC2520 and CC2530 System-on-Chip. Z-Stack™ supports the Smart Energy and Home Automation profiles.

Z-Stack™ notables include:

  • A fully compliant ZigBee PRO feature set on the CC2530 and MSP+CC2520 platforms

Important Notice:

Z-Stack can be downloaded in two formats: a "core" stack installer or a "full" stack installer. The "core" installer is targeted to experienced Z-Stack users who only need updated library and source files. The "full" installer is intended for users who would like additional application examples.

The Z-stack package contains project files, libraries, source, and documentation needed to build a simple "demo" application (e.g. SampleApp), as well as, to develop full-featured ZigBee applications.

The Z-Stack & Applications Examples package contains all the above and in addition the project files, libraries, source, and documentation needed to build several simple sample applications. The available sample applications include:

  • GenericApp: A simple proprietary application example to get you started
  • SampleApp: A simple proprietary application example to get you started
  • TransmitApp: A packet throughput test application
  • SE Sample App: A demonstration of the ZigBee Smart Energy Profile
  • SampleLight / SampleSwitch: A demonstration of Home Automation devices
  • Over Air Download: A simple proprietary application to demonstrate the over the air download feature

This package also provides the latest version of Z-Tool, which is used for serial communication with Z-Stack applications. Application examples 1.2.1 for the CC2430 now support Over the Air Download (OAD).

TI supports Daintree's Sensor Network Analyzer to be used as a packet sniffer for monitoring network traffic an application debugging.

Please read the "Z-Stack User's Guide" before you start using the software.

Compatibility Issues

IAR Workbench:

Z-Stack is developed and tested using compilers from IAR (www.iar.com). If you have purchased a ZigBee kit from TI you are entitled to 30 additional days for evaluation. If you have a full license you can download the latest and previous versions from www.iar.com by logging into the "my pages" section. Please contact your local IAR office for further details.

30-day evaluation license for the Sensor Network Analyzer from Daintree available to new users.

In order to use the Daintree Sensor Network Analyzer (SNA) software, a packet sniffer compliant hardware module is needed. the SNA software works with hardware included in the CC2520DK, CC2530DK, CC2430(Z)DK, and CC2431(Z)DK.
