  OVERVIEW   

The “Introduction to Embedded Linux” 3 day workshop provides a hands-on overview of booting Linux and developing and debugging applications to run in the Linux operating system environment. More than half of the workshop time is dedicated to hands-on lab exercise based on the AM335x starter kit,which is required to run the Graphics/QT lab portion on the third day.  

Course Prerequisites

No previous knowledge of Linux programming or system administration is required; however, students should be proficient in C/C++ programming.

  • Lab 4: Using Code Composer Studio version 5

Lecture 5: File Manipulation

  • Lab 5: Manipulating GPIO/LED via Virtual Files

Lecture 6: Linux Device Drivers 

  • Lab 6: UART Driver read/write

Lecture 7: Linux Scheduler 

  • Lab 7: pthread and semaphore application 

Lecture 8: Networking Basics 

  • Lab 8: Berkeley Sockets programming

Course Details

  • European and USA Multi-day workshops are conducted in English
  • Classes begin at 8:30 a.m. and run through 5:30 p.m. each day.
  • You can expect to finish class between 2:00pm - 4:00pm on the final day.

Cancellation Policy

  • European classes are subject to cancellation if minimum number of attendees is not met one week prior to the date of the workshop.
  • US classes are subject to cancellation if minimum number of attendees is not met two weeks prior to the date of the workshop.
  • Minimum = 5 Maximum = 12
  • Please note that in the event of short notice cancellation Texas Instruments liability is limited solely to the refund of the workshop fees.
