Objective: The TMS320DM355 architecture is a highly integrated SOC that includes an ARM processor, video accelerators and external memory and storage interfaces specifically tuned for video/imaging. In this presentation, we’ll discuss a standard video surveillance software architecture, application framework and network connectivity for a DM355-based IP network controller (IPNC) created by TI and a third party. All IPNC software components are built on top of the Codec Engine and framework. We’ll cover imaging sensor setup, auto-focus and auto-balance from the perspective of a software/algorithm module; RTP/RTSP network video streaming and introduce a basic-motion vector-driven motion detection method at both the algorithm and software-module level. All software components are integrated together to enable a real-world security IPNC.
