TMS320DM64x™ DSP-based Digital Media Processors

Digital media applications are driving toward more complex features and functionality and a programmable platform with optimized performance is key. The TMS320DM64x generation of digital media processor’s are fully programmable and offer industry-leading performance for the most demanding streaming multimedia applications. In addition, TI offers a wide range of complementary analog parts, easy-to-use development tools, extensive video and imaging third-party algorithms and more.

New: 720 MHz TMS320DM642 DSP Delivers High-Definition for Digital Media Applications

Designers of consumer electronics and set top boxes now have a clear path to delivering high definition streaming video with the new 720 MHz version of the DSP-based TMS320DM642. Sampling today, the 720 MHz DM642 DSP enables HD video streams in Microsoft’s Windows Media 9 Series™ format at 720p resolution, as well as MPEG-4, MPEG-2 and MPEG-1.

The higher performance also provides additional headroom for extended features such as: object recognition and tracking for surveillance applications, multiple channel decode for streaming applications, image cleanup, network transport, better audio quality and better system control.

In addition to sampling the 720 MHz version of the DM642, TI is now offering production class devices for the DM640 and DM641 plus the 600 MHz version of the DM642. These code-compatible digital media processors are scalable across a wide range of clock speeds and memory capacities to support applications from video-based portable consumer electronics to video infrastructure equipment.

The DM64x generation of digital media processors benefit your streaming media application by offering:

  • Multiple performance, price and integration options
  • High quality, multi-channel video performance
  • Reduced system costs through the integration of key audio visual connectivity peripherals
  • Complete software programmability getting streaming multimedia applications to market faster
