Reaping
the Benefits of SoC Processors for Video Applications
White Paper
Supporting consumer video applications, DaVinci
technology not only serves to reduce board
space and component count but eliminates much
of the low-level software development required
to integrate complex systems. This white paper
presents example SoC video hardware and software
platforms. Read it now. |

Low-Power
Stereo Audio Codec
Integrating multiple amplification technologies
(headphone, line, line input, boost, mic
bias and programmable gain control), the
PCM3793A and PCM3794A low-power stereo codecs
are designed for portable media devices.
The codecs support right-justified, left-justified,
I²C and DSP formats and sampling rates
from 5 to 50 KHz. Get samples today.
New
TPS6505x Six-Channel Power Management IC
The TPS6505x six-channel power management
IC provides an output current of up to 1A
on each converter. Two integrated 400-mA
LDOs and two 200-mA LDOs can be turned on
or off using separate enable pins; each
LDO operates with an input voltage range
of 1.5 V-6.5 V. Applications include DSP
supply, WLAN, and handheld devices. Order
samples or an evaluation module to evaluate
for your next design.

Exploring
DSP and FPGA Co-Processing Architectures
Given the advancements in performance, peripheral
mix, video-hardware acceleration and implementation
techniques, it is possible to use DSPs in
high-definition video applications. For
computationally intensive tasks, however,
you may need an FPGA. In their article,
“HD-Video Encoding with DSP and FPGA
Partitioning” (EDN, 26 April 2007),
TIers Cheng Peng and Thanh Tran discuss
how to implement both co-processing architectures.
Read their article now.
A
Single-Ended Solution
Digital amplifiers offer great flexibility
for signal routing because the signal remains
in the digital domain until it is almost
at the speaker. TI Marketing Manager Kevin
Belnap focuses on the engineering trade-offs
of single-ended design in his article, “Single-Ended
Design with Digital Amplifiers” (Audio DesignLine,
21 March 2007), with a focus on the TAS5086/5142
evaluation module from TI. Check it out
