AMPLIFIERS

36V, microPower, Rail-to-Rail Output, Quad, General Purpose Op Amp: The OPA4170 is a 36V, single-supply, low-noise operational amplifier available in single, dual and quad micro packages with the ability to operate on supplies ranging from +2.7V (±1.35V) to +36V (±18V). The device offers good offset, drift, and bandwidth with low quiescent current. The input can operate 100mV below the negative rail and within 2V of the positive rail for normal operation.
Resources: Data sheet, pin/package options, TINA-TI reference design, active filter design application, evaluation module

  • Very low quiescent current: 110µA/ch
  • Common mode input range includes negative rail
  • Applications: Tracking amplifiers in power modules, precision integrator circuits, strain gauge amplifiers, battery powered instruments, transducer amplifiers and merchant power supplies

OPA4170: Price (1ku): $0.90

POWER MANAGEMENT

Cell Li-Ion Battery Gas Gauge and Protection: The bq28550 battery gas gauge provides current and voltage protection and secure, SHA-1/HMAC authentication for single-cell Li-Ion battery packs. The device requires host microcontroller firmware support for implementation. A system processor communicates with the bq28550 using one of the serial interface configurations to obtain remaining battery capacity, system run-time predictions, and other critical battery information.
Resources: Data sheet, evaluation module

  • Fully integrated one series Li-Ion/LiPolymer cell battery pack manager and protection
  • Five percent accurate CEDV gauging algorithm with self discharge compensation
  • Applications: Tablet, digital video camera, medical equipment and any portable battery powered consumer electronics

bq28550: Price (1ku): $2.90

2.95V to 6V Input, 5A Synchronous Step-Down Converter: The TPS54519 device is a full featured 6 V, 5 A, synchronous step down current mode converter with two integrated MOSFETs. The switching frequency can operate up to 2MHz, allowing a more compact power solution with a board area of 0.37 inch square. The TPS54618 also brings greater than 91 percent peak efficiency at 1 Mhz and 2% Vref accuracy over temperature.
Resources: Data sheet, block diagram, SwitcherPro™ Design Tool, spice model, evaluation module

  • Two 30 mOhm (typical) MOSFETs
  • Frequency programmable form 200 kHz to 2 MHz
  • Applications: TV: HDTV, set-top box (STB), home gateways, servers, DSL modems, printers, embedded PCs, industrial PCs, Blu-ray player and home theater

TPS54519: Price (1ku): $2.90

INTERFACE

HDMI ESD protection with Integrated Level Shifters and Current Limiting Load Switch: The TPD12S016 is a single-chip HDMI interface device with auto-direction sensing I²C voltage level shift buffers, load switch and integrated high-speed ESD protection clamps. The device pin mapping matches the HDMI Type D connector with four differential pairs. This device offers eight low-capacitance ESD clamps, allowing HDMI 1.4 data rates. The integrated ESD circuits provide good matching between each differential signal pair, which allows an advantage over discrete ESD solutions where variations between ESD protection clamps degrade the differential signal quality.
Resources: Data sheet, evaluation module, IBIS model

  • Confirms to HDMI compliance tests without any external components
  • On-chip load switch with 55mA current limit feature at the HDMI 5V_OUT pin
  • Applications: Mobile phone, tablet, set-top box (STB), notebooks, digital still camera and camcorders

TPD12S016: Price (1ku): $0.65
