New: TI Awarded ZigBee™ Golden Unit Status for Z-Stack Platform

The ZigBee Alliance recently awarded TI’s Z-Stack platform Golden Unit status. Golden Unit status is given to platforms that have implemented the ZigBee 2006 specification and have passed independent testing by one of two ZigBee-qualified testing labs. With the ZigBee 2006-compliant Z-stack, developers can take advantage of new features such as the home automation cluster library and group addressing (multicast) as well as improved security. New: TI IEEE 802.15.4 Medium Access Control Software Stack

TI has released its new IEEE 802.15.4 medium access control (MAC) software stack. The TIMAC supports the CC2430 platform as well as the CC2420 platforms with external MCU. (For more information about available platforms please visit www.ti.com/zigbee.) The TIMAC not only supports the IEEE 802.15.4-2003 but also provides support for new features included in the 2006 release of this IEEE standard. The TIMAC will be available free of charge online from TI in object code. In addition to replacing the former Chipcon MAC, the new TIMAC is designed to ease application development and porting to various MCUs. The TIMAC is also available in source code at a cost of $10,000 (U.S.). Further development of the Chipcon MAC has been discontinued, but TI will continue to support it.
