New Product - CC2531 w/ USB support
The CC2531 is the sister device to the currently available CC2530, and offers highly integrated cost-effective full speed USB support. Like the CC2530, the CC2531 utilizes the industry-standard enhanced 8051 MCU, has 8 KB of RAM and 256K Flash, and supports a range of additional features and peripherals also available on the CC2530.

RF4CE Stack from TI available for download
Building on the fully RF4CE compliant RemoTI 1.0 stack, TI’s RF4CE stack 1.1 augments TI’s RF4CE solution with support for USB on our just-released CC2531 SoC, adds application support for a USB based HID and CDC interface, includes over-the-air download and serial bootloader support, and allows one to utilize our CC2591 RF front end with RF4CE for applications that require longer communication ranges.

Application and design notes
Updated application note AN060 - Security on TI IEEE 802.15.4 Compliant RF Devices
AN060 has been updated to also address CC2530. This application note introduces IEEE 802.15.4 security and gives practical examples using Texas Instruments’ family of IEEE 802.15.4 compliant RF chipsets; the CC2420, CC2430, CC2520 and CC2530. The application note is accompanied by a software example which implements a secure point to point link between two IEEE 802.15.4 compliant RF nodes, using MAC Data frames.

Visit TI at the first international Bluetooth® low energy conference
Texas Instruments will take part in the first international Bluetooth low energy Conference in Munich on October 20th where industry leaders will provide information on this new exciting technology and future applications and business opportunities. TI will demonstrate the world’s first coin cell demo with TI’s CC2540 Bluetooth low energy device. The CC2540 is the first operational single-mode, system-on-chip to support Bluetooth low energy and will be available to the mass market early 2010.

ZigBee RF4CE specification available for download
Earlier this year TI introduced the CC2530 system-on-chip which is a complete 2.4-GHz radio frequency (RF) SoC solution supporting the IEEE 802.15.4 standard and an extensive set of applications, including ZigBee PRO networks, ZigBee RF4CE remote controls, smart energy, home and building automation, environmental monitoring and wireless medical. The ZigBee RF4CE wireless platform enables CE manufacturers to create consumer products and features that are unique, secure, low-cost, easy to deploy and interoperable with other ZigBee RF4CE certified products. Texas Instruments and Freescale Semiconductor have ZigBee RF4CE certified platforms.
