New Product
Preview – CC1190 (850-950 MHZ) RF front end for CC11XX product family
The CC1190 is a cost effective and high performance RF front end for low power and low voltage wireless applications at 850-950 MHz. It is a range extender for all existing and future sub 1 GHz low power RF transceivers, transmitters, and system-on-chip products from TI. The CC1190 will have up to +26dBm (400mW) output power, 6dB typical improved sensitivity on CC110X and a 2.5dBLNA noise figure which includes the T/R switch. The CC1190 includes an integrated T/R switch, matching network, inductors, PA and LNA.

The CC1101-CC1190 EM combo board will be available late Jan 2010. The CC1190 is targeted for wireless systems such as sensor networks, industrial, consumer and audio solutions.

RF4CE Stack from TI available for download
Building on the fully RF4CE compliant RemoTI 1.0 stack, TI’s RF4CE stack 1.1 augments TI’s RF4CE solution with support for USB on our just-released CC2531 SoC, adds application support for a USB based HID and CDC interface, includes over-the-air download and serial bootloader support, and allows one to utilize our CC2591 RF front end with RF4CE for applications that require longer communication ranges.

LS Research introduces ProFLEX™, a 2.4 GHz 802.15.4 FCC-Certified Module
LS Research has just released ProFLEX, the latest addition to its ModFLEX™ portfolio. ProFLEX is a certified module based on Texas Instruments’ CC2520 2.4 GHz IEEE 802.15.4 and ZigBee® transceiver, MSP430 microcontroller, and CC2591 RF front end. LS Research’s ModFLEX program gives customers the option of purchasing the certified module, licensing the design files or having LS Research custom-build a design. The program offers customers a path to cost reduction while still enabling them to release a reliable product quickly. ModFLEX is structured to support a diverse client base of various sizes and budgets.

Adhoco completes ZigBee® home automation interoperability testing
Adhoco is a member of TI’s Low Power RF Developer Network and participated at the recent ZigBee home automation interoperability testing event in Copenhagen. TI’s Support Manager Jarle Boe provided on site technical assistance at the event.
Adhoco is using TI’s CC2530 and CC2591 in their adhoco.H1, a central control unit for an optimum control of illumination, shading, heating, ventilation, air conditioning and other home automation components.

Customers developing home automation products are encouraged to contact TI’s Low Power RF group for technical assistance in preparation for the next ZigBee home automation event.

TI’s new eZ430-Chronos provides a customizable development environment within a sports watch to revolutionize design of wireless networking applications
eZ430 Chronos graphicRepresenting a new era in development, TI introduces the eZ430-Chronos, an intelligent sports watch featuring ultra-low power consumption and CC430 microcontroller (MCU) on-chip integration. A reprogrammable development system for wireless applications, the Chronos is equipped with sensors for measurement and motion sensitive control and a wireless feature allowing it to act as a central hub for nearby wireless sensors to get real-time information back to the user. The Chronos development kit is complete with software and hardware, including USB-RF protocols for wireless set-up and PC connectivity.

Free Spectrum Analyzer available for download on the E2E Online Community
Our newly developed spectrum indicator (analyzer) is an alternative to the standard costly spectrum analyzers available and runs on both the CC2511 and the CC1111 covering the entire 2.4 GHz band as well as 877-973 MHz. The fact that it runs on our CC2511 and CC1111 USB dongles makes it a real low cost alternative. The tool is useful for anyone who works with RF and is also available in full source code (PC side).
