Maximum battery life with TMS320C550x DSPs
For energy-efficient, portable applications requiring longer battery life, TI
has extended its popular low-power TMS320C5000™ DSP platform with additional
C550x devices: the TMS320VC5505 and TMS320VC5504 and a fully-functional,
feature-rich evaluation module: TMS320C5505 EVM. The new DSPs provide the
industry's best combination of standby power and active power: standby power
less than 340uW and active power less than 0.3mW/MHz. The C5505 DSP is fully
loaded with software, integrated peripherals, increased memory, an FFT hardware
accelerator and an integrated power management LDO for increased functionality
and more user-friendly features. The C5504 DSP is a lower-cost DSP with software
compatibility, optimized memory and an integrated power management LDO that
maximizes OEMs'/ODMs' investment. The devices are ideal for applications such as
medical monitoring, noise cancellation headphones, portable voice/audio devices,
musical instruments, biometrics, industrial instruments, software-defined radio,
wireless microphones, telephony and audio cards.
