Implementing IIR Filters on the MSC12xx (Rev. A)
Infinite Impulse Filters (IIR) derive their name from the fact that the output is also used in the filter, thereby making it possible for the impulse response to last for a very long (infinite) time. By using the bi-linear transform, the filter response of standard analog filters can be converted to an IIR filter response.
Graphs and coefficients are derived with the Filter Express™ from Systolix, which can be downloaded from with this application report as a compressed file. Other filter software and design tools are also discussed.
