Linear Matched Independent Current Source vs Traditional WLED Driver Solutions

Integrating white LED process advancements with innovative power-saving schemes (such as ambient light-controlled dimming), WLED solutions can be implemented for a wider variety of applications much more efficiently than at any time in the past. Most available WLED driver solutions still incorporate voltage boost driver solutions; however, along with a wider variety of WLED applications and technologies comes a broader selection of WLED driver solutions. One such new solution is the linear matched current source. Texas Instruments' TPS7510x low-dropout (LDO) linear WLED driver can be employed in driving WLEDs. This application note compares this new technology with existing boost solutions.
