EMI Prevention in Clock-Distribution Circuits
With the current trend towards lighter, compact personal computers and engineering work stations, system designers can no longer rely on after-the-fact electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding techniques; rather designers must learn to build in EMI protection of the design stage. This document discusses EMI protection for a clock distributor, an application characterized by multiple simultaneously switching bits and relatively long transmission lines. Illustrations show the results of different types of EMI protection in a test application.
