U-502 Time-Base Oscillator for RTC IC

Time-Base Oscillator for RTC ICs. The operation of the time-base oscillator is critical to the timekeeping functions of the bq3285, bq4285, and bq4845 series of real-time-clocks (RTCs). This application note describes some basic characteristics of the piezoelectric crystal and the on-chip crystal oscillator circuitry designed into these RTC series. It also includes suggestions for achieving timekeeping accuracy and circumventing oscillator startup problems
