Popular IEEE Two Day Hands-On Workshop using Chassaing Book at WPI

IEEE Boston presents: Digital Signal Processing and Applications with the C6713 and the 6416 DSK

Monday - Tuesday, Oct 15-16, 2007 9:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI), Worcester Campus, MA.
Atwater Kent Bldg., Room AK 227

This course will be held at WPI in a lab environment using a hands-on approach. The laboratory facility (which includes: PC, DSK, signal generator, scope, spectrum analyzer) is where speaker Prof. Rick Brown, teaches "Real-time DSP" at both the undergraduate and graduate levels at WPI. This popular course is limited to 22 participants. Materials are based on the widely-used textbook "Digital Signal Processing and Applications with the C6713 and the C6416 DSK" by Rulph Chassaing (Wiley), 2005 and additional materials from Dr Brown’s course.

Topics will include:

  • Introduction to Code Composer Studio integrated development environment
  • Creating projects, writing and compiling programs for the TMS320C6713 DSK
  • Architecture of TMS320C6000™ floating-point processors
  • Signal generation
  • Real-time FIR and IIR filtering
  • Adaptive filtering
  • The Fast Fourier Transform (FFT)
  • Testing real-time performance
  • Code optimization
  • Fixed point considerations
  • Additional applications

Workshop attendees must be registered for the event and associated workshop fee. Attendees will receive a TMDS320C6416 DSP Starter Kit, a textbook and lunch ($500+ value).

Instructor: D. Richard Brown III is an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. He received a PhD in Electrical Engineering from Cornell University in 2000 and MS and BS degrees in Electrical Engineering from The University of Connecticut in 1996 and 1992, respectively. He currently teaches the Real-Time Digital Signal Processing course at WPI and has an active research group working on several problems in communications, networking, and signal processing.

Save the Date for the TI Developer Conference Worldwide 2008

The TI Developer Conference (TIDC) Worldwide will be held February 26-28, 2008, at the Hilton Anatole Dallas in Dallas, Texas. University researchers, educators and students will benefit from technical sessions, hands-on labs, networking events and interaction with experts in signal processing. Whether your course or research uses DSPs, MCUs, Analog, Matlab or LabView, you will find helpful resources at TIDC. This year's tracks will include: Audio, Communications, Education, Industrial, Lighting & Displays, Medical, Systems & Trends, Tools & Embedded Software and Video & Imaging.
