OMAP™ 2 Platform

The OMAP 2 applications processor platform is ideally suited for mobile gaming. With an integrated 3D engine – the PowerVR® MBX and VGP from Imagination Technologies, OMAP 2 processors can deliver quality games that have been previously limited to gaming consoles.

The OMAP2420 and OMAP2430 processors from TI also support OpenGL® ES 1.1 and OpenVG™ 1.0 compatible to deliver high-performance, visually compelling graphics on mobile devices.

OMAP 3 Platform

The recently announced OMAP 3 family delivers two major improvements over the OMAP 2 processor platform that further enhance mobile gaming. The OMAP3430 integrates the ARM Cortex™ A8 core which can deliver up to 3x performance over the ARM11™ core in the OMAP 2 platform. This enables a large range of complexity for running games and graphics.

TI Gaming SDKs and Tools

To further enable game development on the OMAP architecture, TI provides software development kits (SDKs) and tools to facilitate fast time to market of new games for Symbian OS™, Linux and Windows Mobile® based handsets.

TI offers SDKs based on OMAP2420 and OMAP2430 processors as well as Windows® XP PC-based emulation SDKs and tools.
