Availability Disclaimer
The TNETW1230 is a single-chip media access controller (MAC) and baseband processor
built in an industry-smallest 12mm x 12mm package, ideal for portable devices.
The new low power, compact 802.11a/b/g solution is designed for mobile handsets
and PDAs.
TI’s solution meets the mobile market’s need for 802.11g, needed
to improve battery life since the high-throughput connection shortens transmit
and receive times; as well as meeting the new demand for dual-band 802.11a/g
networking necessary for voice over WLAN (VoWLAN) mobile applications.
The TNETW1230 is already designed into several cell phones and PDAs including
Motorola’s Wi-Fi®/cellular dual-system phone (press
release). The complete TNETW1230 press release is available here.
Key features of the TNETW1230 include:
- TI’s ELP™ technology for low power standby modes offering an
industry-best sub 1 milli Ampere (mA) standby power consumption.
- The TNETW1230 can be combined with TI’s OMAP™ processors, GSM,
GPRS and CDMA chipsets and single-chip Bluetooth® wireless technology
solution for complete wireless designs.
- The TNETW1230 includes VLYNQ™, TI’s low power, low pin-count
serial interface. Through these interfaces, the TNETW1230 easily connects
to TI’s OMAP processors and TCS cellular chipsets to develop Wi-Fi/cellular
phones and PDAs
- The TNETW1230 also easily connects to TI’s BRF6100 and BRF6150 single-chip
Bluetooth wireless technology solutions as part of TI’s coexistence
package.
- A modular embedded station developers kit (eSTADK) for mobile 802.11g and
802.11a/g developments. The eSTADK includes programming and hardware design
tools, as well as sample reference designs that a project team can use to
streamline the development process and accelerate a customized design.
