OMAP3420 Processor - Availability Disclaimer

The OMAP3420 is designed to meet the needs of the multimedia enabled handsets market, which includes VGA quality video camcorder and playback, up to 5-megapixel still image capture, music playback and 3D gaming. It embeds Imagination Technologies' PowerVR SGX graphics core to deliver exceptional graphics performance and advanced user interface capabilities. The OMAP3420 shares many of the technologies that are present in the OMAP3430 and OMAP3410 devices, including a 65-nanometer (nm) CMOS process, the ARM® Cortex™-A8 superscalar microprocessor core as well as IVA™ 2 imaging, video and audio accelerator, for advanced productivity and multimedia capability. In addition, the OMAP3420 is software compatible with all OMAP 2 and OMAP 3 processors, allowing a fully software scalable solution.

Graphics. The OMAP3420 processor embeds Imagination Technologies' POWERVR SGX™ graphics core, and supports OpenGL ES® 2.0 and OpenVG™, providing superior graphics performance and advanced user interface capabilities. TI is enabling sophisticated and dynamic images with "smart pixel" technology offered via OpenGL ES 2.0. This unique technology allows each pixel in an image to be programmed individually, giving developers the power to create rich effects with cinematic realism. Users will now experience "life-like" facial features, advanced reflection effects and multi-textured backgrounds in the mobile environment.
