Quality & Lead-free (Pb-free): Industry Standards

clear gif

Texas Instruments has a long standing commitment to improve semiconductor quality through the advancement of industry standards.

We are committed to, and will continue to support, industry standardization by working closely with different standards development committees and industry associations on regulatory standards, U.S. voluntary standards, and international voluntary standards.

We have been actively participating and/or assuming leadership roles in various industry organizations including:

  • American National Standards Institute (ANSI) -- Non-Profit organization that administers and coordinates the U.S. voluntary standardization and conformity assessment system.
  • Electronic Industries Alliance (EIA) -- Partnership of electronic and high-tech associations and companies whose mission is promoting the market development and competitiveness of the U.S. industry through domestic and international policy efforts.
  • Electrostatic Discharge Association (ESDA) -- A professional voluntary association dedicated to advancing the theory and practice of electrostatic discharge (ESD) avoidance.
  • International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) -- Global organization that prepares and publishes international standards for all electrical, electronic and related technologies.
  • Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, Inc (IEEE) -- A non-profit, technical professional association. IEEE is a leading authority in technical areas ranging from computer engineering, biomedical technology and telecommunications, to electric power, aerospace and consumer electronics.
  • Institute for Printed Circuits (IPC) -- A United States-based trade association dedicated to furthering the competitive excellence and financial success of its members worldwide, who are participants in the electronic interconnect industry.
  • Joint Electron Device Engineering Council (JEDEC) -- The semiconductor engineering standardization body of the Electronic Industries Alliance (see above).
  • Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries Association (JEITA) -- Formed November 1, 2000, through the merger of the Electronic Industries Association of Japan (EIAJ) and Japan Electronic Industries Development Association (JEIDA). JEITA is a new industry organization in Japan with activities covering both the electronic and information technology (IT) fields.
  • National Electronic Distributors Association (NEDA) -- Not-for-profit trade association representing companies involved in the supplier authorized distribution of electronic components and parts, computer and computer peripheral components, and test, measurement and control equipment and their manufacturer-suppliers.
  • National Electronics Manufacturing Initiative (NEMI) -- An Industry-led consortium whose mission is to assure global leadership of the North American electronics manufacturing supply chain.
  • Semiconductor Manufacturing Technology (SEMATECH) -- The members of International SEMATECH cooperatively set global industry direction and accelerate technology solutions in infrastructure, lithography, materials, and manufacturing to ensure a strong and vibrant semiconductor industry.

Texas Instruments also supports a wide range of symposia in the areas of quality, reliability and failure analysis. This support includes symposia management and organization, as well as extensive technical contributions including papers and tutorials.

The key symposia we support include:
