Preview – PurePath™ Wireless audio technology
At the 2010 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) Texas Instruments demonstrated its new PurePath™ Wireless audio technology, delivering the industry’s highest performance CD-quality wireless audio solution. The CC85xx family takes advantage of TI’s design expertise in both audio and low-power RF products to provide a 2.4-GHz system-on-chip that transmits uncompressed audio over a state-of-the-art RF link with no unwanted noise or dropouts. These single-chip, integrated devices will lower total system cost in consumer, portable and professional audio applications, such as wireless headphones and wireless speakers. The two-channel CC8520 will be sampling and in volume production in March 2010. Future devices in the family will include the CC8521 (two channels with USB), CC8530 (three channels) and CC8531 (three channels with USB).

CC1111 Dongle USB certified
CC1111 Dongle USBThe CC1111 USB dongle reference design demonstrates how to make a compact USB dongle with the CC1111 System-on-Chip, a chip antenna in conjunction with a special PCB trace and single sided components mounting. Schematics and layout files for the CC1111 USB dongle is included in the reference design. The reference design demonstrates good techniques for CC1111 decoupling and RF layout. For optimum RF performance, these parts should be copied accurately. This is a 4-layer reference design with a discrete balun and a compact antenna solution. The antenna solution is recommended for applications operating in the 868/915 MHz frequency range requiring a small antenna solution.

Monster redefines traditional power supply technology with the award-winning HTUPS 3700 Powercenter
Monster, the industry leader in power protection and conditioning products, announced the availability of its HTUPS 3700 uninterruptible home theater power supply. In January the HTUPS 3700 was honored with a prestigious Innovations 2010 Design and Engineering Award by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), featuring technologies that go far beyond surge protection offering such advancements as clean power filtering, remote access control and more, significantly adding value to any home entertainment system.
TI’s CC11xx technology was adopted by Monster for their new GreenPower product line. The 3700 is the first product in the expanding GreenPower product portfolio. Monster collaborated with TI’s 3P design partner, Arrayent, Inc. who selected the TI CC1110 for RF communication between the HTUPS 3700 and an internet gateway. The CC1110 gives full-house coverage without an extra power amplifier, and the gateway ensures that the user can monitor and control the HTUPS 3700 from anywhere in the world through a web interface or smartphone.
