TI Acquires CICLON Semiconductor: TI has acquired Bethlehem, PA-based CICLON Semiconductor, a designer of high-frequency, high-efficiency power MOSFETs. CICLON's energy-saving technology will help TI deliver high-density, high-frequency power solutions with double the operating frequency, a 20% smaller footprint, and greater than 90% efficiency. Applications for this technology include high-power computing and server systems.

Single-Cell, Li-Ion Battery Fuel Gauge for Battery Pack Integration: The bq27541 is a highly accurate, standalone, single-cell Li-Ion and Li-Polymer battery capacity monitoring and reporting device designed for space-limited, portable applications. It uses patented Impedance Track™ technology to accurately predict battery capacity instantly under all conditions without learning or conditioning cycles.

10-V, Single-Output LDO, 80-mA, Adjustable (1.2 to 8.88V): The TPS714xx low-dropout voltage regulators offer high-input voltage, low-dropout voltage, low-power operation, and miniaturized packaging. Operating over an input range of 2.5V to 10V, the devices are stable with any capacitor (≥ 0.47µF).

6-Channel Power Management Unit with Externally Adjustable VOUT: The PTS650250 combines 6 channels – 3 buck converters and 3 LDOs – in a small 5x5 mm QFN package. This device adjusts the output voltages by using external resistor dividers and features dynamic voltage scaling (DVS) at the core voltage, DCDC3.

The device switches at 1000 kHz, allowing a smaller inductor to save board space. When the peak load current falls below 160mA, a pulse-skipping Eco-Mode™ feature is automatically activated to increase efficiency under light load conditions.

500-MHz, Fixed Gain of +2V/V, JFET Input Amp: The OPA653 combines a very wideband, voltage feedback op amp with a JFET-input stage to offer an ultra-high dynamic range for high impedance buffering at a fixed gain of 2V/V. The wide 500-MHz gain of 2V/V bandwidth is complemented by a very high 2675V/µs slew rate with fast settling time that makes it ideal for time-domain and pulse-oriented applications.

Low-Noise, Very Low-Drift, Precision Voltage Reference: The REF50xx, designed for industrial applications, combines excellent low drift with the lowest noise and highest accuracy of TI's voltage reference devices.
